Murphy Appraisal Services, LLC, is a comprehensive and full-service real estate appraisal and consulting firm with extensive experience throughout Louisiana and Mississippi. While based and focused in the Greater New Orleans Metropolitan Area, we historically have covered the length of the Interstate 10 and Interstate 12 corridors from Lafayette to Baton Rouge through New Orleans and the Florida Parishes and into the Mississippi Gulf Coast from Waveland to Pascagoula.

For 24 years, we have provided high quality commercial and residential real estate appraisal services for a wide ranging client base including both national and locally based institutional lenders, private individuals, estate planning professionals, attorneys, and real estate development companies. We perform literally thousands of appraisals annually. In fact, we are the largest appraisal firm in the state of Louisiana.

Founder Rick Murphy, who has 24 years of experience in real estate appraisal, brokerage, and development in South Louisiana, leads a staff of 24 individuals which includes three state certified general appraisers, eight state certified residential appraisers, and four appraisal trainees. This includes general and residential appraiser licenses in both Louisiana and Mississippi. In addition, this staff includes professionals in real estate sales and brokerage.

Our Professionals

The Murphy Appraisal staff of 24 people includes four state-certified general appraisers, eight state-certified residential appraisers, four appraisal trainees, other professionals experienced in real estate appraisal, brokerage and development and a number of administrative and support personnel.

Our proprietary MARD system (Murphy Appraisal Research Department) uses the combined information of our thousands of performed appraisals to provide leading-edge analysis of values and demographics with accurate population density forecasting.

Staff certifications and licenses include state-certified general appraisers in Louisiana and Mississippi, state-certified residential appraisers in Louisiana and Mississippi, state-licensed real estate brokers in Louisiana and Mississippi, and appraisal panelists and consultant panelists for the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development.

Thomas M. Hancock

Thomas M. Hancock

Thomas M. Hancock joined Murphy Appraisal Services in 2010. Since that time, Mr. Hancock has assisted in the valuation of a wide array of property types ranging from vacant recreational land to restaurants as well as apartment complexes, shopping centers, and industrial properties.

Prior to joining Murphy Appraisal Services, Mr. Hancock served as a sales administrator for Solar Turbines, Inc. in Harahan, Louisiana and prior to that as a regional logistics manager for Western Express Holdings in Nashville, Tenn. In that capacity, he worked on a variety of supply chain management projects ranging from fleet management to systems routing.

Mr. Hancock is a Nashville native, where he attended Montgomery Bell Academy. He graduated from University of Tennessee, where he majored in marketing and logistics and minored in operations management. While in college, he served as president of Kappa Sigma Fraternity and also served as a student senator on the University of Tennessee Student Government.

Mr. Hancock currently resides in Uptown New Orleans. He enjoys playing golf, University of Tennessee athletics, New Orleans Saints football, New Orleans cuisine and Mardi Gras.

Tom Danel

Tom graduated from Southeastern Louisiana University in 2010 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Finance and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Management. Tom begin working for Murphy Appraisal Services during the summer of 2011, focusing in commercial appraisals.

Tom is a native and current resident of Hammond, Louisiana. While he played some college football, he now enjoys football season as a spectator.

Katherine Harang

Katherine Harang, a native of Thibodaux, La., graduated in May 2011 from Louisiana State University’s E.J. Ourso College of Business with a bachelor’s degree in Finance. While a student at LSU, Ms. Harang was an active member of the Student Finance Association and interned with the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. During her time at the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, Ms. Harang was an integral part of the planning and implementation of two golf tournament fundraisers.

Ms. Harang joined Murphy Appraisal Services in July 2011 and works closely with the Murphy Appraisal team while she pursues her Appraisal Trainee and Real Estate Salesperson licenses.

Jeremy Loescher

Jeremy Loescher joined Murphy Appraisal Services in 2011. His focus is the valuation of income-producing real estate properties including hotels, retail centers, multi-family, stand-alone retail, commercial properties, and mixed-use developments.

Prior to joining Murphy Appraisal, Mr. Loescher’s experience in the New Orleans financial services market includes work with a local tax credit equity investment fund as well as Chaffe and Associates, a New Orleans-based investment bank.

Mr. Loescher completed his MBA at Tulane University’s A.B. Freeman School of Business in 2006. He also holds a bachelor’s degree in Economics from Clemson University.

Leo Moore

Leo Moore

Leo Moore attended the University of Southern Mississippi from 1994-1997. He joined Murphy Appraisal Services in 2009 and is a residential real estate appraiser trainee. Leo is based in our Covington office and specializes in the valuation of single-family properties, vacant land, and other residential properties in St. Tammany, Livingston and Washington Parishes.

Leo resides on the Northshore with his wife and two sons. He enjoys a variety of activities, from golf, fishing, and football to playing cards, board games and spending time with friends and family.

Victoria has lived in St. Tammany Parish for the last 35 years and has been appraising residential properties since 1986. It all started when her mother-in-law wanted to sell real estate but didn’t want to do it alone. Victoria became a licensed Real Estate agent under Fallon Realty for approximately (6) six year when Sid Bieber of Bieber and Associates asked that she consider appraising for him on the Northshore. This association lasted for (3) three years when the office was closed. Victoria then moved to Paul Gasser Real Estate (1989-1996) and began appraising on a full time basis. During this time Victoria became a certified residential appraiser for the state of Louisiana. In 1996 Mr. Gasser sold his company to Stirling Properties where Victoria continued to appraise properties in St. Tammany, Washington and Tangipahoa Parish. This was short lived (one year) as Stirling decided to drop the appraisal department and concentrate on residential and commercial real estate sales. At this point Victoria had spent all of her time appraising and decided to find another appraising firm. In 1997 she moved to Murphy–Blossman Appraisal Services until the company split when she moved to Murphy Appraisal Services in 2001.

Victoria is based in the Murphy Appraisal Services Covington office at 19411 Helenberg Road, Suite 204,where she performs residential appraisals in St. Tammany, Washington and Tangipahoa Parishes and in Mississippi. Properties appraised in Mississippi are made under the supervision of Richard Murphy. Victoria’s concentrated experience is in appraising vacant lots, large parcels and estate-type properties for banks, relocation companies and attorneys.

Victoria resides in Covington and enjoys gardening, music, art, spending time with friends and watching the Saints and LSU football.

Todd Fitzmorris

Todd R. Fitzmorris is a St. Tammany Parish native and a graduate from Mandeville High School. Mr. Fitzmorris graduated from Southeastern Louisiana University with a bachelor’s degree in management with a minor in marketing in 1989. Mr. Fitzmorris joined Murphy Appraisal Services in July of 1998 and is a Louisiana state-certified residential real estate appraiser and is a Louisiana licensed real estate sales person. He is based in our Covington office specializing in property valuations of residential properties including single-family homes (existing and new construction), multi-family properties and vacant residential land (lots and acreage) in the parishes of St. Tammany, Tangipahoa and Washington. Mr. Fitzmorris has 12 years of real estate appraisal experience performing property valuations for a wide array of purposes including but not limited to home purchases, refinance, PMI removal, property settlement, succession purposes, and is often hired by real estate agents to assist with their listings.

Mr. Fitzmorris currently resides in Mandeville, Louisiana with his two sons, Robert and Patrick. He is a member of St. Timothy Methodist Church in Mandeville. Extracurricular activities include spending time with his children and enjoying the great outdoors of boating, hunting and fishing.

Shanna Baugh

Shanna B. Baugh graduated from the University of New Orleans in 1999 with a Bachelor of Science degree. Shanna joined Murphy Appraisal Services in 2002. She is a Louisiana State Certified Residential Real Estate Appraiser. Shanna is based in our Covington office and specializes in property valuations of residential properties and land in the parishes of St. Tammany, Tangipahoa, Washington, Livingston, and East Baton Rouge.

Shanna resides on the Northshore with her husband and daughter. In her free time, Shanna enjoys camping, fishing, and hunting with her family.

David W. LaBalle

David LaBalle

David joined Murphy Appraisal Services in 1994 and has been a Louisiana Certified Residential Appraiser since 1997. Appraisal experience includes single family and multi-family properties, condominiums and vacant land in south eastern Louisiana. In 2009 David was approved and added to the FHA Appraiser Roster.

With the exception of service in the U.S. Marine Corps, David is a life long resident of New Orleans. Extracurricular activities include Competitive Service Rifle shooting and a for the past 18 years a volunteer Range Safety Officer at the Honey Island Shooting Range in the Honey Island Wildlife management Area near Slidell, La.
